Dual Enrollment with Community College Partners - Students earn college credit while completing PUHSD courses. Students can finish high school with up to a year of college credit
International Baccalaureate Program (IB) at Colfax High School, available to all district students - Students have access to course work and testing that allow them to compete internationally.
Scholarship Access - Each campus provides opportunity for students to prepare and compete for college and career-based scholarships
Career Pathways - Students have access to course sequences that qualify them to complete specific pathways that are recognized by the State.
Advanced Placement Courses - AP courses are recognized by universities and colleges as rigorous, qualifying courses that can lead to college credit for students
Career Technical Education - No more your typical “shop” classes, CTE courses have grown with the advances in technology. From Automotive to Marketing and Manufacturing, students have gained access to the refined systems and tools of their respective fields and pathways.
Placer School For Adults - PSA provides outstanding opportunities for our adult learners in our community.
Student Access to Technology - One-to-Web (1:Web) has been a district priority for over 10 years. Students are assigned a personal Chromebook that they possess for their tenure in PUHSD. This has transformed how teachers deliver information and assess student learning. This has provided a great opportunity for flexibility and educational reform.
Staff Development - This has been central to our academic success. With a district-wide commitment to improving student achievement, staff education is a necessity. Ongoing efforts in teacher training continue through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Staff Development days, cohort training and online courses offered through our Placer School for Adults.
Culture
Mental Health Specialist - Recognition that our students need additional support in a social environment that is very challenging to negotiate.
Activities and Leadership Programs - each campus provides unique opportunities for all students to participate in community-centered activities. Teachers are assigned and trained in these programs and resources are allocated to support
Athletics - All of our campuses have developed outstanding, competitive programs that have made our students and athletic teams leaders in California high school sports. These programs are prioritized with fiscal support from the District as well as very supportive community and parent fundraisers
Redesign of Alternative Education Options -
Maidu Virtual Charter Academy - Online-learning for our independent learners, providing more choice and options for our students and parents
Confluence - A new look and culture for our continuation school programs. Providing academic education options embedded in an internship-based program. Students explore and experience the real world in our school to career setting.
Quality Schools Training - Our staff members are trained in our long-standing educational philosophy introduced by Dr. William Glasser, where choice is central in understanding what motivates students to learn and teachers to excel.
The Placer Union High School District Board of Trustees have had a marked impact on student education and opportunities over the past 30 years. Our district facilities, academic programs and school cultures have all been at the forefront of the intentional growth and change, all of which has been driven by the vision of our current Board of Trustees.
